Hello
Hello and welcome.
I also couldn't control my drinking once I started. I also can no longer drink.
I'm an alcoholic and can never drink safely again.
I went from a casual drinker to a binge drinker to an every day drinker. Alcoholism has a progressive component, and it did with me.
You're wise to stop now. You'll find a lot of support here. Best to you on your journey.

Good Morning Steve1, I like your decision making process. Stop drinking. Join SR. Have you formulated a plan? I suggest reading SR posts so you'll know what to expect. This will assist in creating a plan. Welcome. If you go sober in August, consider joining the Class of August 2014. God speed. Resolv

tomorrow I leave Thailand for the USA, There is no way I can stay here, as this whole place is built on drinking and partying. I am pretty much a everyday drinker with some real bad binge drinking thrown in, and now I am starting to black out and then i am really out of control. So i will not drink again
I was an every day drinker with binges thrown in, too. It's a very combustible combination.
It led me down a very dark road until I couldn't drink and couldn't not drink. It was horrible.
Maybe see a doctor, since you're drinking so much, and be brutally honest with them. Don't worry they've heard it before. You may suffer withdrawal. I did.
I also quit, and it's been three years seven months since my last drink. You can do it, too. Even the worst cases can, and do, recover.
Best to you on your move and please stay in touch here. You can do it.

Hi Steve, I have been to Thailand for a holiday in the past. I was drunk pretty much from the moment I woke up everyday until I passed out at night. I can only imagine what it must be like to live there and have to resist the lifestyle.
I think a change of scenery is a good move indeed. Welcome to the site.
