Thumbs up well, that was unexpected...

I've been laid low with a flu - still battling through there...but I found out yesterday that the guy who was going to move out won't be moving out in time for me to move in by the 1st...

so I've been trying to vet other flats out online...forgetting about perfect and just going for anything...

then tonight, well after office hours, I got an email from the Dept of Housing...I have a house offer...it looks good

The downside is I have to leave the sea - it's back in the city I came from....but I think mebbe that was all part of this...

I came out to the seaside to retire, and I've done very little socialising...but after my jam last week, maybe I'm not 'sposed to be this retired yet...

it will be good to be back in contact with muso friends, rock shows, art galleries and all the rest of the urban experience.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support, and I hope to be on deck in a few days.

D

That's wonderful, Dee. Sorry you'll miss the ocean, but it does sound more invigorating, especially now that you might be able to get a band together.

Hope you feel better soon!

Wow Dee, I was just wondering how the move was going. Literally in the last hour!

I'm really happy that part of the journey is done, the worry etc...you know I can completely understand!

Maybe a lot of healing happened where you are, and you are ready for the next stage. Happy for you mate.

That all sounds like it's worked out really well Dee! All the best with the move.

Retirement? you are younger than me and unfortunately no plans to retire here for quite some time! (lady of leisure sounds good but maybe I'd have too much time on my hands)

Hi, Dee)

Glad you are having a good place to live now!

Sorry, though, about leaving the ocean - I've never live near one, but I would miss it too)

Anyway, I hope you will like your new place, and enjoy the benefits that city holds.

My very very best wishes to you!

The good thing is once I'm in the system I can always ask for a transfer back here when one comes up, if I still want it

Congratulations!

It always is saddening leaving a place you've loved for so long. Seems like you're looking on the bright side!

It'll be a new adventure!

Dee I've been looking for you. Re the house offer: wow and okay why not do it.

Get yourself well, then think about the implications. But it sounds good Dee, another bend in the road. I gather thst you and bends in the road have made acquaintance before.

I had to leave the sea behind for family reasons four years ago myself.... I can empathize. You'll miss it every day. But you'll find other aspects of life to fill that void.

And also; turns out the sea is always still there when you get back to it.

I haven't seen it yet but it's a done deal guys - based on whats available here, it's going to be a step up, for less money.

It's actually a wheelchair accessible place so it's possible that this is just a pause and not a full stop.

If someone who needs the place comes along I'll get moved on to somewhere else in the system....I'm not thinking thats likely with the amount of time I've been waiting but you never know...

but even if it's just a foot in the door of the government system and permanency that's good enough for me right now

Free Owl as much as I love the sea I gotta admit, I never got down to it much the past few years.

Maybe one day - a place with breakers where I can swim

^^^^. Dee, I seem to remember some advice you gave on a thread quite a while ago, "as one door in our life closes, a new one opens" looks like that is finally happening for you my friend!

Hope you get to feeling better soon!
