Sounds like a good idea to me, do you have a plan other than just not drinking? How about hitting an AA meeting?

Once I finally accepted I had no control over alcohol whatsoever, I began to make some headway on my drinking!!

It made life a whole lot easier not having that first drink!!

You can do this!!

It's much easier to not drink than it is to try to control it or to drink moderately.

Congratulations on day one.
Just remember, this can be the last one.
I thought I had it under control a long time ago. But I was fooling myself. I NEEDED to drink and did for 23 years. I was a drunken, ruined mess at the end.
Sounds like you're getting to that point. Sometimes it takes hitting bottom hard to take action.
I agree, an AA meeting would be a good idea. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I quit a hundred times, complete with solemn vows and my best efforts, but I always went back to the bottle.
You're suffering needlessly. There is help available. All you have to do is take action.
Best to you.

You can stay sober if you want to be sober more than you want to drink.
