Just can't. I did well 40 days etc. but I seem to crumble to drink so easily now. Never when my boys are there though I have stuck it that rule. But when they are not I am on it. I still have the guilt the hangovers. I need willpower. I need to stop. The post drinking anxiety cripples me. I am anxious at the best of times. Who knows. Sorry this post is me thinking out loud. Well done all who abstain

Hey,
I'm up late, your up early.
You just said you can stick to a rule. Time to add another one. Not when the kids are there and not on days that end in Y.
I'm only two weeks dry, 40 days seems like one heck of an accomplishment.

Hi Hez, i found that willpower alone wasn't enough to keep me from drinking. I really needed a lot of help and support to stop. I couldn't do it on my own. Maybe some extra help and support would benefit you also. I used to get horrendous anxiety after drinking but that went away after a couple of months of sobriety. Glad you're here. Wish you the best.
Hey Hez, 40days sober is something great. Each day sober is something great. Stick around here every day! There is a lot of support here for whatever come up, whenever. Everyone has been there.
Not a day has gone by that I have not logged into SR since I joined on April 30th - just could not do without leaning on everyone here.

You can beat this thing. We know you can. You know you can!
Hayley's right - maybe you need some extra support?
If you're taking meds for your anxiety, they'll work SO much better without alcohol. And so will you
Stay close to SR too. Here to support you in any way we can

Hiya Hez... 40 days is awesome & what's stopping you from doing 40-50-60 days again?? We have all relapsed, yes it's a bummer but we start again until we crack it.. Don't dwell on it just look forward to those future sober days.. I understand the anxiety that is really crippling but does pass very quickly as long as you keep off the dreaded demon.. get plenty of fluids down you, warm water with lemon is great for detoxing but of course if you have any concerns contact your Doc. Wishing you well.
