cravings
I found after a couple of weeks the thoughts of "your feeling good, have a drink" or "1 drink won't hurt" started to crop up, compared to at the very beginning when I felt awful and couldn't forget how awful alcohol made me feel, after a while those specific temptations started to rear their heads and I was presented with a whole new set of cravings.
But they are simply that, thoughts in your head, you still get to choose not to act on them, there is still no inevitable conclusion!!
Hang in there, it does get easier with time, keep pushing through as there will be light at the end of the tunnel!!

It's weird. I had a horrible craving for a beer this morning, and I've been sober three years seven months.
Just out of no where. It was strange. Very strange. I had to follow my own advice, that I give here, to not cave.
Everyone is different. The cravings did go away once I got some sober time behind me, but this morning I had to think that first beer through to the end.
I hope your cravings lessen with time. It was just a strange morning for me.

if I or we keep entertaining the thought of drinking
it will in short time override most everything else
move your thought to better things
it works -- with practice

Like MM says, thinking of drinking leads to drinking. You are mentally circling the drain that leads to alcohol. Use a stopper. Put your thoughts to better use. Challenge those thoughts. Ask yourself –
“What is going through my mind?” or
“What is it about this situation that is upsetting me?”
Think more helpful thoughts -
"What can I say to myself that will help me remain calmer and help me achieve what I want"
Remember, just because you think something doesn’t mean it has to happen.
