Threw It All Out

Just arrived home from work and went straight to the garage fridge (never drank in the house) and threw out all the booze. I actually poured it all out as I have thrown out full cans and bottles before only to dig them out of the trash later to drink them. How pitiful is that?

I also disposed of all things alcohol related.

Day one is in full effect. Its been 15 hours since I have last had alcohol to my lips. I am going to do this.

Good job dumping the beer. I did it a hundred times, and they kept making more.
Sounds like your resolve is sound, and congratulations on your decision to quit and fifteen hours.
You'll find lots of support here. I used to dig them out of the garbage, too.
I truly hope you're finished. Great things await you. Please keep posting and let us know your progress. Best to you.

This post makes me so happy! Good for you, you sound like you have a strong resolve this time. Great job on 15 hours, you are almost to 24! And then you just keep on into the second day, ticking off the hours if the days seem to long. Come on Charlie, we are all rooting for you!

Have you tried the soda water with lime yet? It's a real nice beverage I've found. The other night a friend even added some fresh mint to it, not bad at all.

What's your plan for the evening?

The plan this evening is to hug my wife and children, tell them I love them then fill my evening playing with my kids and some household chores of course.

Sounds like a good one, your kids will love having dad around sober. I'm telling the truth here, in just 9 days I have already seen a difference in how my kids interact with me and I feel a closeness and trust from them that was missing. It hurts me to type that out, but it is what is is/was. Today we baked a cake together (alright, alright it was from a mix) they were thrilled. We had dinner and then yummy cake for dessert. But it is not even these special activities, just the day to day is really nice. Enjoy your family, and you will because you will be there sober to appreciate them. Just don't go back to old habits when things get stressful, let's face it with kids in the mix, sometimes things do get stressful.... You are doing great!

Same to you Meraviglioso. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am looking forward to having 9 days of sobriety (hour to hour.) You will have 18 by that time. Stay strong yourself. You and many others have really affected the way I need to look at myself and address (take positive steps) my situation. Thank you.
