My husband smokes heroin and meth

I married a (recovering) heroin addict. I thought that meant he didn't use anymore.... I found out he relapsed shortly after I became pregnant. The last 2 years have been a nightmare.

He has been sober from meth and heroin for about 3 months, mostly because we moved and he doesn't know where to get it.

He says he's staying sober for the baby and me, but he's not attending NA or counseling or anything so I feel like I'm just waiting for the relapse.
I can't believe I brought a baby into this situation!! I should have done due diligence on this guy before conceiving a child. I love that baby so much, I am terrified for the future.

Hi Brynna - welcome

I'm really sorry for your situation but I know you'll find support at SR - both here and in our Friends and Family forums too.

Just know you're not alone in this

D

Thank you Dee! Yeah I really do feel less alone reading the friends and family posts!?! Also I have been reading posts by people who are in active addiction or recovery and it's giving me some perspective from the other side. Anyway, glad I found this board. =)

Speaking from the perspective of an alcoholic, I drink a very large amount and feel normal. The longer I do it, the more horrible I act drunk and the more terrible the bounce back when I inevitably stop.

I am alone, but if I had a family that I see regularly, it would probably take a lot out of them.
