Wink 1st Day and a Poker Chip

Hi All

2nd day sober.

So I just got back from my 1st AA meeting... and I was so impressed with the diversity of people and where they were in their lives. They welcomed me with tons of relate-able feedback and and some terrifying stories.

I had made excuses over the years as long as I don't drink and drive and I never become violent I cant possibly be an alcoholic.... yeah...

I'll never hit rock bottom but i can see I am fast on my way.... I just recently had some inappropriate blackouts that could/(or will) come back to haunt me and my brand new career....

I'm tired of waking up trying to remember just how I got in bed.

I'm tired of guilt and shame in equal doses.

I'm tired of being a terrible role model for my loving children.

I'm tired of not being the equally supporting husband my patient wife deserves.

So today I admitted I cant do it alone and the drive there was scary, walking up to the door was scary.... but nothing else was scary!

Big thanks to the love support team at my first AA meeting and to all of you who let the lurkers know they are welcome....

Awesome TNTPOP! AA has changed my life thus far in a very short time - but, I had to get to the point of really being motivated (desire) and willing to change. It can work for anyone if they have these two things.

So happy for you!!! Get a Big Book and read / work it! The book is almost 600 pages BUT the program is the first 164 pages. It sound like you will identify ( as I did ) to part II of the stories - They stopped in time.

I learned two things in my first meeting - It(really, really bad things) hasn't happened to you YET = your'e eligible too and an old timer said - Take your chip, put it under your tongue and if it melts you are allowed to drink again!!!

Way to go!!! Keep us updated on your progress!!!

Thanks for posting

It was very cool, they gave me a big book and then they all wrote their name and numbers in it.

Congratulation on your healthy decision. Our honesty and acceptance are a foundation of good things to a path of sobriety.

KEEP COMING AND BE WELL
