Hi olddog, welcome. I can tell you for me this site has basically saved my life. When I joined I hadn't been exposed to others who felt like me, understood me or had experienced things like me. Finding a place where I could read and share thoughts and feelings has helped me so much. I've found I'm not alone. By reading other posts I've learned more on here in the month I've been here then I feel like I've learned in my entire life. You'll get support and advice. Encouragement and sometimes a little tough love. Keep reading and posting. I honestly don't know where I would be right now without SR. Hopefully you have the same experience.
