Wink isobriety so far seems easy... when is the pessimism gonna come?

I'm excited about this support. What a blessing! I'm taking things at my own pace, and tend to get frustrated when my closest try to tell me how I should do this. I'm also trying to quit cigarettes too. What a wammy! But "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Been an alcoholic for about 7 years and smoking cigs since 18. I'd love too hear from anyone about anything anytime.

I'm glad you are doing well so far. You have the right approach. But beware. You are likely to be tempted in very strong and insidious ways when your will is at its weakest. Just post on here BEFORE you fall, before you take that "one won't hurt me" sip.

Welcome, Daniella! Sounds like you are doing great kicking 2 very tough habits. I agree with Gilmer that if you begin to feel like maybe you can have a drink and just stop at one, post here first.

Hello and welcome. You'll find lots of support here.
I quit drinking after twenty three years of it, so it can be done.
Funny, I just quit smoking today. it's tough, but as you say, all things are possible through Christ. I rely on prayer heavily. In fact, I'd still be drinking if not for the intervention of God.
Glad to have you here and post away. And best to you.

Hey Daniella,

I found that it will hit me at random moments. I am on day 33 and just returned from a long car trip this evening. It came out of nowhere how much I (or my addictive voice) is missing the old routine of getting out of the hot car, into the house, and drinking.

I don't really miss it but it feels sometimes like mourning the loss of a friend or an immediate comfort.

But, that one hour window of feeling relaxed is followed by a possible blackout, fights, drunken facebook posts, weird emails, and worst of all, the horrible, nasty hangover that last three days. No thank you!

I hope you don't get to a pessimistic point. I am optimistic 98% of the day. Just keep your guard up for weak moments!
