4 1/2 months

Some members have relapsed in their time of recovery. When you relapse do you experience withdrawl all over again?

Remember "No question is a dumb question" lol

I think that some do and some don't. I found each relapse harder to recover from.

It would depend on how much of a relapse it was, I guess.

If the relapse involves heavy enough drinking that your body becomes alcohol dependent then you could go through withdrawal again. I was a heavy daily drinker for a number of years before I went to rehab. I suffered quite severe withdrawal symptoms whenever I stopped for even a day. I was quite alcohol dependent at this point.

I have had a few relapses since I finished rehab 3 years ago but these relapses were no longer than 4-5 days each and spread 6 months or so apart. My body hadn't become dependent on the booze so when I stopped the withdrawal was very mild. Insomnia and anxiety mostly.

Congratulations on 4 1/2 months! That's a great question but as you know everyone is different. And don't forget, a lot of people relapse and don't make it back.

If you are thinking about drinking or using, please play the tape all the way through and continue to discuss it with someone you trust or share it on this forum.

Not thinking of it AT ALL. Just a bit curious, I have full-custody of my 12 year old boy and I plan to keep it that way
