Almost but didn't
Hi all,
I am writing to check in and keep myself accountable. I am on day seven and almost had a beer with dinner. Its a cool summer night, I felt relaxed and a little bored, and started to rationalize that if I can not drink for these past few days, then I can drink today, and then stop again tomorrow like a normal drinker. But I did not have a beer. I drank water. I kept thinking through the mantra to not have that first drink, "not one sip!" And I remembered where I was last weekend, esp. Sunday morning feeling so horrible when I woke and then finally posted here for the first time. So I am going to watch a movie and eat chocolate ice cream and got to sleep. Sending support to all and gratitude for this forum and all of you.

I'm really glad you thought that through longoverdue
classic AV strategy. I confused 'abstinence' with 'control' for a long time.
I know now I have no control over my drinking and no amount of sober time will 'reset' me
Great stuff
