Normal service will be resumed

Hi, I am 6 days dry today. I previously enjoyed 11 years sobriety, until I had just one lager in 2008 and we all know what happens then. I tapered down before stopping but reality is harsh when I see what a mess I have made of my life. Picking up the pieces. It's going to take a lot of fixing. Health issues, extreme health anxiety, (abdominal twinges, high gamma gt). Otherwise ok. Very anxious as between jobs and could lose my accommodation. (I have a job offer but the background checks in the UK can take months). Seems like a nice place you have here. Thanks.

hi Daevid

sorry to hear you fell off mate
i did the same thing i was sober or dry for 15 years and then picked up that first drink again
it lead me down to the depths i had never been before

i lost everything and ended up back at aa doorsteps with nothing other than a flat that was given to me by the hostel run group and i was in danger of losing that so i would of been homeless

i lost my kids my business my home all my money the lot and even went to prison for my drunken fights and public menace i was
that was 10 years ago now since i have been back in aa and sober
i got my kids back and a job and home so things really did turn around for me since i walked back into aa

are you going to aa ? as for me i identified this as my reason i drank again as i simple left aa behind and chased my own life and making money etc
good luck to you my friend

Been where you are now Daevid. I'm almost at 20 months now and glad I found my way back. Haven't been attending as many meetings as I did during my first round or recovery. I found SR during round two and it has made a huge difference; glad you found SR as well!

Welcome, Daevid, to SR. SR is an amazing place.

Congratulations on 6 days. Your 11 year stint of sobriety is proof positive that you can do this.

Really glad to have you here Daevid. Welcome.

6 days is wonderful. I had 3 yrs. once & decided I could have 'a glass' of wine. I was back out for 7 yrs. until I found SR. The encouragement & friendship I found here were unbelievable. It's a big part of my day. I know I'll never stop reading & posting. I hope you'll enjoy being with us - we care about you!
