a loaded gun

I agree alcoholism is a loaded gun and being a cop is nothing but arrogance in the face of death. It is arrogance that kills. Alcoholism wants us to feel safe and secure in it's warm embrace. Healthy fear. To not have some fear is fine if you don't mind dying from this.

I agree alcoholism is like a loaded gun, but I don't think it has anything to do with arrogance. Denial is a huge part of the disease of alcoholism and it's denial of what we're doing to ourselves that leads us back to alcohol again and again.

I was replying to a post where some said that he is a cop and has nothing to fear…..I'm new to this site and can't seem to figure out where I am Denial would be the only reason for not having fear or as I said, simply wanted to die was be the next reason.

Depends on the situation, addiction by it's nature once it has it's claws into someone is a tough thing to shake off, it can be done but it's not easy, hence why support such as SR and AA exists.

You should reply on that thread, not start a new thread.

Shipmate, use the "Reply" button, not the "New Thread" button. That will keep you in the right discussion thread.
