Dreaded relapse
Dreaded relapse
Another relapse just as I thought I was changing my ways. I had been walking and cycling almost everyday for about 5 days. I really felt positive for once in a long time, I hadn't been a cycle in about 20 years.
I managed 5 weeks at the beginning of the year. Now I cant even manage a few days. I knew I had my binge planned for the football World cup.
So here we are allover again. Day 1 almost complete, Time to start again.
I keep making excuses for not going to AA, after saying I would. Just kidding myself on.

Hi Kevin, dont be too hard on yourself! At least you have stopped now and that is incredibly hard to do. When I started to drink again it might take me weeks to stop..so dont worry too much..you,ll get there in the end..we all slip up and allow ourselves to slip up but im sure one day things will just click for you..you,ll get tired of being tired and you,ll make the best decisions..best of luck and a big hug xxx
Kevin,
No two people are alike in what it takes to get sober. Take an honest look at what you were doing, and understand that it wasn't enough. That doesn't make you a failure, it just means you haven't found your solution yet. I personally couldn't do it solo, I needed the contact and feedback from others who were also trying to get sober. To my surprise, I found that I enjoyed them and came to enjoy the process.
Good luck & keep posting!

reaching out before it's too late is a great skill to learn Kevin.
I had to accept that just because there was a red shiny button named DRINK in front of me I didn't have to press it.
I had other options.
Learn to use those other options Kevin

Kevin78. I had almost a week under my belt and relapsed yesterday. I'm back in the saddle, also exercising a lot and determined again. Dust yourself off and get back to the business of sobriety. Best wishes to you.
This is good to recognize as I can admit that all my relapses were planned and deliberate.
I also realized after my last binge that I couldn't do it on my own. I needed "something", I needed support and a plan.
You have 5 weeks sober, so go back and remember some of the things that kept you going at that time. Quitting drinking is one thing, trying to live sober is something else. At least that is what it is like for me.
You can do this because you already have.
