Quitting again

Almost ashamed to write, but I do it anyway. Day 1 again after spending every day of my vacation drinking. Really tired of myself and struggling hard not to dwell on the stupid things I have done. I need to focus on the future, on the things that can get better. I am an idiot when I am drunk. I have the nicest man in my life and yet I get flirty and I really hate that. My life could be great, the only thing that is bad is my drinking, otherwise I have everything I have ever wanted. So here goes again.. Thanks for your support, I will check in here the next time I feel like drinking. Just emptied the house of all alcohol.

Hi Laura - welcome back

I thought my life was great too, apart from the drinking - but the trouble was my life was inextricably bound up in my drinking.

Maybe you need to do a little more than just check in here next time you feel like drinking?

I know no one wants to change their life - but I tried hundred of times and I couldn't find any other way to change than to make real lasting changes to my life and the way I reacted to things?

D

Yes I do need to make changes. I will spend Day 1 making a new plan. I need a better councellor, one that is an alcoholic too. My current one does not really get it.

Tell us the plan.

Don't use your plan.

Follow the plan of people that have recovered.

Whether it is from AA members or SR members....throw out your plan and try a new plan.

If we could just manage well, we would.

We keep going to our own thoughts to break this pattern and we repeat it year after year.

Our plan doesn't have the best track record.

We try to drink and fail. We try to drink and fail.

But it's vacation....But it's _____ fill in the blank.

We know we must never drink yet here we are again.

I encourage you to get direction from people that have recovered rather than to rely on your self.

There are many women in AA that can point you in the right direction.

Are you willing?
