What are you looking forward to?

I am looking forward to:
30 days sober.
38 days sober- 37 is the longest time I have gone in the last 35 years.
My first solo art show and reception-sober!
My first birthday sober.
My first wedding anniversary sober.
My first visit with my son and his family-sober.
My first Christmas holidays being sober every day.
My first year sober.

Wish me luck.

Some folks are going to hate the sound of this ( and there was a time when I was one of them), but I do look forward to each day. I've learned that when I'm feeling not quite right for a day or two, that I'm quick to do something about it. No longer do I turn to booze to erase my problems, or wait for something to change, or search for someone else who can save me from my self-inflicted malaise.

Waking on time for work tomorrow, and not feeling hung over, confused and nauseous.

Wow, interesting question. Almost hard for me to answer, as I'm so new to this, and I am really trying to respect the power of this disease and not become too confident (uggghhhh.... hope that doesn't sound bad). With that said:

- 30 days sober, because I have never had that. I mean, not since age 13 or so.
- Seeing how my body/build responds to not having an additional 1000 calories of whisky in it per night.
- Being proud of myself. I don't know the last time I was really proud of myself. And to clarify, I wouldn't say I have low self esteem. But I just don't remember the last time I took on a direct challenge I didn't know for certain I could accomplish.
- Not being hung over 4-5 days a week.
- Experiencing new things. I'll have some time to fill... so seeing new places in my area, doing new activities, seeing what might work for me.

looking forward to 30 days and then 41 days ,that was my longest sober time last year..getting rid of the hideous blueish /red bags under my eyes, seeing the whites of my eyes again.
looking forward to enjoying a rd of golf because i like golf ,not because it was a excuse to get falling down drunk..
looking in the mirror and not seeing a pathetic loser staring back at me

I'm on day 71 today!

The near future:
*My last weekend in jail in 2 weekends.
*My week off of work next week, MUCH needed.
*Heading back to the gym on my week off.
*My first week off that won't be spent drinking/hungover!!!!!

Next few months:
*Intensive counselling that will help give me the tools to sort through the rubble AND...this is a big one...FINALLY getting to know myself. I'm 37 years old and have no freaking clue who I truly AM. Not deep. Not REALLY. I've coasted through most of my life in a fog. I'm ready to see now. And I'm ready to start liking myself.
*Repairing the trust I have broken with family and friends on a deeper level.
*Picking up some new hobbies

I like this idea. Looking forward to things is therapeutic in itself for me.

I'm looking forward to:

-Reaching the 60 day mark (I've gone as long as about 6-7 weeks.)
-Telling people I quit drinking. It feels pretty great to say it out loud, and to tell family and friends
-My friends wedding, which will be my first major social event since quitting
-Being able to attend social events without the av bothering me
-I'm looking forward to getting my act together-- financially, etc
-Making new sober friends
-Actually, now that I think about it, I look forward to waking up every morning. I get excited and motivated to get my day going.

Looking forward to my life in general.

I have so much more to look forward to than the next drink.

Looking forward to counting weeks instead of days, months instead of weeks.
Not feeling like such a loser.
