One year tomorrow
So here we are, if I make it until the morning it will be 365 days. It has not been as hard as I expected due to a change of mind set. Mind you, I have tried to quit off and on for more than 25 years. I had a year of sobriety in the nineties and several episodes with 3 to 5 months of sobriety. I always ended up slipping and gradually descending in to heavy drinking. I'm not sure what motivated me last year, but a family life in disarray had a lot to do with it and the fact that I was done with drink. Just didn't get anything out of it anymore. I had tremendous cravings the first two months, then I had psychological cravings and with the av talking to me all the time. I just stopped and thought it through and was able to stave it off every time. I have been out camping with friends who has had one or two drinks without it bothering me. I've been asked out several times to drink but politely turned it down without incident. Has it been easy? No, but I have to say it has been a wonderful year and I have my self worth back, my anxiety is a lot less and I feel generally better. So, I'm looking forward to year two.
Congratulations tnman!
Let the sober celebration begin! Let's get this sober party started!
You are fabulous! Awesome! 365 days of no hangovers, no self inflicted disappointment, no wasted moments in life.
It wasn't always easy. I know. But boy, it sure is worth it. Heck, lots of things aren't easy but when you finally get to where easy ain't the point...being true to yourself is...
Holy schnikeys. The world opens up.
Sober party like its 1999! Great job!
