rise and shine

Only day 5 here, but launched myself out of bed at 3:30 a.m.,
to enjoy precious coffee time here with SR.
Just a few days ago, 3:00 a.m. would have seen me
groaning and incapacitated in bed, listening to my heart
pound my temples like a war drum, cold oily sweat
rolling down my forehead, dreading 6:00 a.m.'s arrival.
While reading my past threads, I discerned insight of
my initial battle, followed by a false sense of victory;
riding the "I've got it this time!" wave, only to shoot
myself down in flames 3-6 weeks later.

Time to change my strategy.

Wishing everyone a happy, productive weekend.

Mornin'!

I used to get up early so I could get a drink or two in before work. Now I can't sleep past 5 AM. But, if I so desire, I can nap about 8.

I woke, got my coffee, came here and watched the beautiful moon disappear behind the woods, so beautiful. Yep, sober is the good life.

Another early bird here this morning
down south in Baton Rouge. Coffee was
set for 4:30am and got up as the coffee
was brewing. Walked out to the mailbox
admiring the bright full moon before
heading out back for my coffee and
get all feeders full and ready for our
early birds. Got a load of clothes washing,
list made for our early trip to Walmart
for some groceries.

What I like about early shopping is that
there is little to no people out on the road,
its still cooler without the burning hot sun
and heat. Then to roam around the store
not bumping into others or avoiding on
coming carts. No noise. Just peaceful and
serene.

Avoiding all of the aggrivations of the world
for this early bird in recovery is a gift within
itself.

YEAH for the EARLY BIRDS in RECOVERY

I tasted Community Coffee in 1983. It was brought up to VA by my roommate, who was from Baton Rouge. It was way ahead of its time, considering that Starbucks, etc. are all the rage now. Now I see Community Coffee in some VA supermarkets.

By the way, I like to go to bed early and often set my alarm for 4. I have so much more brightness and energy in the morning. After 4 pm my brain is like a wet washcloth!

They're starting to put brewed Community in some of the gas station/convenience stores around Georgia. OOOOooooh, baby! They don't do the chicory blend but it's gooooood.

Good morning, early risers!

Well now I feel like I slept in, because I didn't get up until 6 AM.

Lunar, yeah it's nice being up early and clear-headed on a Saturday -- especially without having to worry about stuff I might have posted or emailed the night before. =O

Sharon, I agree that it's nice to get out and do errands while it's still cool and before everyone else drags themselves out of bed.

Just had an egg and seaweed omelette with crushed tomatoes and rooster sauce. Not sure whether I'll have coffee or iced tea next. I think I'll go with iced coffee with cream and sugar.

I'll have to look for Community Coffee in the stores.

You are right about being too confident and the false sense of victory, lunar. Sobriety is an active process and we need to be reminded not to take it for granted. I know I work on it daily cause I don't want to lose it. What a joy to wake up early, feeling good.
