First day nerves
Well hi there everyone please be gentle with me it's my first day sober and I must admit I am a little bit terrified .....I took antabuse this morning and feel ok so far , I think it's the fear of being ill that is stopping me reaching for a glass of wine but if it works then who am I to argue....wish me luck it's going to be a bumpy ride.......

Welcome Cairo. SR is a great place to learn about ways to live your life sober - which you'll need to do eventually, the antabuse is mainly just to get you over the initial hump. Have you considered any face to face support of any kind ( meetings, counseling, etc ? )

I have tried some counselling but all she wanted to do was blame other people bad childhood ect ,,,but there is only one person lifting the glass and that's me....maybe I chose the wrong councillor ...thanks for the welcome its great to know support is out here .

I agree with Scott that it may be to your benefit to look for some outside support.
The first few days are pretty much terrifying and full of anxiety for everyone, but it gets better soon. Keep it going, welcome to the site and congratulations for taking back your life.

Hello and Welcome.
Take advantage of the meds but those are primarily for the physical symptoms. You have to address what is going on in your mind and come up with a plan. For me, it was realizing how alcohol was affecting my life and finally deciding to quit. Completely. It has been almost 4 months and I feel great. It is all up to you. It is hard, but worth it.

Don't be scared, being sober really ain't all that bad! I was told once 'it's not what you drink, it's why you drink' I couldn't relate to that in the past but I do now. Wishing you lots of success.
