People drinking around you....
Well you know it's going to happen. Just because WE can't handle it, doesn't mean no one can. We can't avoid it forever....
Went kayaking early today for about three hours. Lovely. No wind. Water like glass until the last 15 minutes when everyone visiting brought out their boats to water ski, pull kids around in inner tubes, etc. The big pontoon boat waiting for me to row past his "parking space", meanwhile a speed boat cut between us. fireworks popping off everywhere. Ok I was done. Walked right out of the boat, up the stairs, into the shower with my clothes on (no washer, remember). Sitting on the deck, I hear this guy in his speedboat pull up to the cabin two doors down. - "Hey we just came back for more beer". I will not be back on the water today. Neighbors across the way called, hey come over for drinks. Hmmmmmmmm. I gave this due thought. This is my in head convo: do I want a drink. Yes. Why? For a little buzz and some company. How will that make me really feel? Oh, a little tired. Will this make me happy? Yes. Can you stop at one? No. Two? No. Will you drink until you black out and miss this wonderful day and the great meal you have planned? Yes.
Convo over.
If I could, I would, but I can't, so I won't.

I find the drinking on the boat thing concerning. There are kids all over the place. When I was active, I never drank on a boat or was in a boat while someone else was drinking. I'll just sit here and watch. If we needed a 911 call, town is 30 minutes away these are all private beaches, no boardwalk with cafés and bars. Just cabins and houses. Ack. Be careful you big dummies on the water!!!

I grew up on a huge lake where people party on the boats and get drunk. They will tie all the pontoon boats together to connect them, and have one huge drunken boat party. At least, that's what they did when I was a teenager. I never participated in that though. My grandfather warned us over and over never to drink on the water. He is a fisherman.
We have laws where the BAC for boating is the same as driving. But some lakes have boating police and some, probably most don't. Its so dangerous. Good job thinking it through today Raider....I did that a few times today too-fourth of july and all.
