Sober birthday coming up... and you're invited!
Since my mid-teens I think I have only ever celebrated one birthday sober... I think? I can't remember... which is probably indicative isn't it, tut.
I'm having a BBQ, few friends and kids round to my place next weekend. I want to do this as I always threw good parties (pre-kids) and it's a mid-milestone birthday so I want to celebrate and make it a good fun day for the kids with the paddling pool etc. But I think because it's a day all about 'me,' AV will be in prime position, laughing it's head of saying 'go on! Treat yourself! It's your birthday!') Can just imagine AV personified, holding tongs at the BBQ asking if I want chicken or sausage and copious glasses of wine to wash it down with, because let's face it, who keeps track at a BBQ??
It's going to be a big challenge for me, definitely. I don't know if I am strong enough to commit/resist, even tho deep down I know it is absolutely the right thing to do, for me, my body, my health, my kids. I will be busy hosting and supervising the kids all day - it will be the evening that AV will become the biggest challenge, to 'reward' myself. I wish SR did gold stars or something everytime you resist, and special certificates or vouchers if you abstain from a special occasion!! Ha! Just kidding
Posting here to 'out' myself in advance, and tell everybody that AV is not on my guest-list - Right of Admission Refused!! (see what I did there?? drinking reference?? ha! Funny me lol). The apartment is too small, for one thing No but seriously... I want to be able to post here in the coming week and spend my birthday with you all, feeling really good and healthy and proud of myself. So I hope you accept my virtual 'invite' and keep checking up on me... I'm a sucker for peer pressure lol May keep this thread going til the BBQ is over, if that is OK? Thanks in advance you lovely lot xx
