64 days sober
Hi my name is Steve and I have read threads on the forum a fair bit but this is the first time I have posted. I have been sober for 64 days now. I have struggled and struggled to stay sober many times and I am now on Antabuse. For the first time in my life I feel like I can do this and knowing the dangers of drinking on the medication is taking a lot of the internal conflict of will I/won't I or should i/shan't I have a drink. I feel like there is finally light at the end of the tunnel and I can get my life back on track finally. I wondered if anyone else on here has a similar experience? Thankyou . Steve
Congrats!
I tried Antabuse for about a month, but knew i wanted to quit because i wanted to, not because of what the medication would do to me. If it works for you, good on ya! You have 62 days on me brother, so obviously it is going well. Stick with it and post more on SR. Remember, we need to hear from you as much as you want to hear from us!

Welcome to SoberRecovery!
I found I needed help staying sober, and I found that help on these forums and in the rooms of AA meetings.
Do you have any type of support plan?

Thanks guys! I'm lucky that my treatment is through my city's alcohol and drug misuse centre so have regular appointments with a support worker and I also have counciling and SMART meetings at my local alcohol advisory centre.. I really hope that if can eventually abstain without the antabuse but it's been amazing so far at taking away the temptation and inner conflict I have had so many times before
