hello from the uk

hi there im here because im in need of some help, advice and support while im trying to support my heroin and crack addicted girlfriend iv been with her for 3 1/2 years plus a months break, she was a user when i met her (im not a drug user, iv only ever tried a joint but it made me ill so iv never done it since) ill put a full post with my full story and questions in the right area to give the mods an easy life

Welcome to SR freddyb. I'm glad you reached out for some help.

You are not alone. You'll find plenty of others are in the same situation. Visiting the Friends & Family forums is a good idea too. Many there will understand what you're going through.

thanks everyone for making me welcome, iv just posted a short version of my story on the friend and family page i hope it makes sense because ill admit this isnt very manly but it brought a tear to my eye wrighting it

For you-it must be very difficult for you. In my experience people only help themselves when they are ready-all trying to save her will do is drain you of energy. You are not a bad person if you leave. Addiction is a dictator-you cannot control this. Xx

Welcome as well, freddy. It is terribly difficult loving an addict, but the fact you have stuck with her for years means you love her very much. If she is going to change, she has to really WANT it.
