wow...I do feel better

Went to my sisters birthday tea last nnight . I've told my sisters about my fears of having a drink problem and although they think its just anxiety, they respected my choice and after my decline of the first offer of a glass of wine they left it at that. I watched them drink there's and knew that if I had had 1 I would have wanted 4 or 5! So, my point is.... this morning I feel so good knowing I didn't indulge. I didn't get drunk. Sobriety is definitely for me! Now, that was a pretty easy experiment... there's nothing to say my next experience will be as straight forward. But it's a positive start.

That's right. If you consistently turn down those drinks, people get accustomed to the fact that you just don't drink and they (hopefully) eventually stop offering. Good job! Does feel great to be sober, doesn't it?

Every sober event/party makes it easier and easier! The stakes get higher, too. You don't want to lose all your good, healthy sobriety time. I think it is excellent that you played out your drinking to the end, realizing that even if you were able to contain your drinking to a few drinks, you really would be pining for more. Taking the alcohol out of the equation has actually made parties more entertaining for me because alcohol is no longer the focus. Proud of you!!
