Hanging in there

Had my last beer Saturday night. Feeling kinda crappy today, still shaky and have not really slept well at all. Hoping the worst is behind me. Thanks for all the support and posts from you guys, it really helps. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences. It's been 4 1/2 days being sober, just want to feel normal soon. Any advice would be helpful.

My first week was awful, felt like I was jet lagged all the time, not sleeping, dizzy, praying for my lunch break at work, it was tough!!

But it gets better, the body just needs time to heal, it has endured having a poison being poured into it for many years, it therefore needs time to adjust and heal, it won't happen over night, but it will happen!!

Keep pushing through!! The benefits of sobriety are just around the corner!!

I definitely relate to feeling like garbage at first and I also struggled quite a bit with insomnia for a while. I am on day 51 and promise it does get better. I know it's hard to be patient but if you just hang in there you will get through this part. Now I feel better than I have in a long time, it was totally worth being miserable for a bit at first. You're doing great, stick with it!

I second the above. It takes patience and more patience.

Hey Str8Chaos74

It's probably gonna take you a week or two to get past this.

If that seems long, just compare that to the years I assume you've been drinking - I think most of us get off lightly

Of course, if you have any concerns, see your Dr

You are going great, it takes a while for us to get so messed up, it is going to a take a little while to get sorted. You will never have to do this again. x

I think part of it also is that I have had a week or two here and there of being sober in the past year. But this time seems especially worse. I appreciate all the feedback, going to just relax tonight and watch a movie or something. wish you all well and thank you.
