I think you have to get to a point where you accept you can't change the past.
You just accept what is and forgive yourself what you can, and move on.

Today's far more important anyway

As for your birthday - do whatever you want to do - just don't involve alcohol

80 days is great -keep doing what you're doing

Have a good day

D

Advice?
You should be proud of those 80 days and have a great birthday!
Obviously you're doing something right.
No sense in mulling over past mistakes.
We all have regrets. I could write several chapters, myself.
The past is gone forever, no sense in wasting time getting
yourself worried over it. Move on. Feel your feelings!
Exist in your present state, celebrating your new life!
Have a superb Happy Birthday on Tuesday!

What went wrong was and always will be ****happens. I dont think anyone entends on being an addict but it happened anyway. There right, its gone. Laugh at what you can and move on my friend. I'm far from 80 day, still very new to being sober. Have a great birthday! I never put thought to a sober birthday, but now that you mention it-Thanks a ton I will try it!

Regrets are understandable, but they have to be put in their place to make way for the new.

Maybe schedule a specific time to dwell on the past and consider the wrong turns, and get yourself some paper and a pen and a kitchen timer.

Here you are now, and this is where you have the power to make choices that will actually have any effect.

Well done on 80 days! To your health and to your choice for sobriety! I think a sober birthday is a pretty cool thing to look forward to!

Congratulations on your 80 day accomplishment. One thing I needed to do is learn from my mistakes and concentrate on not repeating them by not picking up a drink. It’s been some years now and it’s great being comfortable in my own skin most of the time. For me it’s done helping others and not acting on the characteristics that contributed to my drinking.

BE WELL

wow 80 days is awesome!
I wish I had some advice for not wallowing in the past...I'm still working on that bigtime. It's an easy trap to fall into and one not so easy to get out of....but try to be aware of it. I like the idea of the kitchen timer!!!! LOL
just stay sober and keep those thoughts/reminders as fuel of why you stopped drinking! flip the switch.

now if I can only take my own advice!
have a GREAT day 80!

when i did my step 5 i had a list of all the things i did wrong and i confessed them all to my sponsor
i was full of guilt and shame for what i did and my sponsor never even rasied so much as an eyebrow

after it all he simply said tear up that list as its now in the past, from today onwards try to not make those same things happen again in your life
from today onwards try and live a good honest life in all you do

and thats what i do today i still make mistakes but i dont do them on purpose or if i do at times i soon know in my heart i have done them and see i have done it again so i have to put it right soon as i can

but the point is here i have to stop living in the past i can not change it
so living it on and on in my head will not solve anything
get rid of the rubbish holding you back and enjoy freedom from it
from today onwards just try to be good and kind to people and practise it and i can beat you will start to feel good inside of you and one day you will start to even like who you are

find someone to dump your rubbish on and burn it as its in the past nothing can be done to change it at all
good luck to you
