10 days!
I'm thankful to have had no serious issues, this far. I don't feel shaky or paranoid nor have I had any anger issues of any sort. I still fear the future and I'm definitely starting to understand the seriousness of the "one day at a time" theory. I've been lucky because for a week I've been taking an antibiotic (not a medication or anything that gets you high, just a really disgusting tasting little guy) but it was highly recommended to not drink while taking it so I've had that little extra motivation this week. As of tomorrow I'm done with that medicine so I am a little fearful that I'll feel more of a temptation to drink but I'm staying positive because I'm tired of letting myself down. I don't get to get out much because I don't have any friends since I'm currently across the country from all my friends and brother and sister but it makes for a great time to get sober since I have no one inviting me to go out (not like I'm super popular anyway) lol. I've noticed that getting out even if it just means going to a park or even today my fiancé and I took our son swimming for the first time, it was freezing so it lasted about four minutes but hey, that's four minutes I spent not thinking about alcohol. I plan on getting a part time job asap to help with our lack of income and also keep myself busy and I plan on hitting up another meeting tomorrow.
Just an update. Feel free to share your progress!. I love reading all of your stories, good or bad.

Hey eliza ,
good going on the 10 days
Going to meetings sounds like good support , there is also the class of june thread if you haven't been there already and the 24 hour club in the newcomers daily support thread area
Nice to have you along on the sober journey
Bestwishes, m

Great job on 10 days! I'm at 20 days and I will tell you that it's getting easier. Once you put some distance between you and the bottle you realize you don't want to go back to that way of living again. What's difficult for me is going out with friends and watching them drink- none of them are drunks; 2-3 drinks. It doesn't make me want to start drinking but it's just uncomfortable being that close to alcohol. So far, given the choice I'm avoiding those situations.
