Loneliness
The feeling of constant pain and self personality criticism due to your situation and social inability to change your situation
I got this little tidbit under the definition of "Lonelieness" from the Urban Dictionary.
Is it my imagination but does that not sound exactly like addiction?

It sounds a lot like it. Loneliness is also what caused me to seek refuge in the drink as well as one of the greatest challenges to face in getting sober.

In all my years, the one truth I have learned (time and again):
Each time I have thought life is the worst it can ever be, or the best it can ever be...it can get worse and it can get better. But hey?!. 'That's life'.
Admitting addiction for me is saying 'yes, this is true' (Duh!) and staying committed to not going through life alone.
And admission is a lot of other things...'loneliness', by any definition, happily not being one of them.

I think that loneliness is similar to the idea of that "void" we often speak of. The void that we try to fill with addictive substances and behaviors, which just expand it further instead of making it disappear.
The helplessness in these situations is what's most similar, probably.

Ya..as "alcohol" came up as one of the related words connected to loneliness I clicked on that definition to find this....

Hey nuu,
Speaking of in between, on our gravestones will read our birthdate & our day of dying, the little dash in between the two dates is our life,, it's what we make happen in the little dash that will really matter.
