How very pervasive alcohol abuse/addiction really is! This site is only one of many like it and only a cross-section of how wide is the swath of destruction caused by alcohol. And many millions more never even visit these sites. And yet, the rest of society still just doesn't really understand us. We are shuffled off into this or that "treatment," as though we are a different breed and need to be herded with our own kind. It's really remarkable how far we have to go to truly understand this problem, and how we as a society perpetuate it with prejudice and misinformation. I don't harbor any animus about that. I don't think people who don't have a problem are being deliberately mean. I think they're just ignorant.

Meanwhile, the alcohol industry keeps sending out ticklers to lure even more of us into the fold...

While society and the alcohol industry are certainly part of the picture, it's our responsibility to realize our limitations and our addictions. We can also help others realized theirs through places like SR.

Whilst there is money in alcohol, I can't see it disappearing from society anytime soon!!
