big surprise...i don't like bars.
So today (Saturday) was the 2014 Reddit Global Meetup. I went to an art festival during the day so was late arriving. Sure enough, the rain had picked up so the party moved to a bar. I'd brought Cards Against Humanity so I followed. Everyone was quite excited that I'd brought the game and I was excited to play it. Drinks were ordered and I ordered a fine ginger beer.
I cannot understand the appeal of a crowded bar. It was noisy, smelly, hella crowded...we had a great time playing but, and it seems that this is a common occurrence in bars, beer was spilled so now some of my cards are a bit funky. Also, I stink a little of beer. Nothing triggering but this is definitely something I would do regularly for fun.
The alcohol didn't bother me at all. It was the atmosphere that alcohol breeds. I just don't care for it. I guess I've just come to love the balance and peace in my life. This chaotic, loud scene is just not my style.
BTW, Cards Against Humanity is a better social lubricant than alcohol and a lot more fun. Also, you can drive your own car home when you're done!

I remember someone here going on a date and ordering a cider that turned out to be alcoholic so I was sure to ask the server for the non-alcoholic drinks. I believe the brand was Rachel's. The guy sitting next to me remarked that it was very aromatic. It was so refreshing!
As I was driving home, I realized that I was in a bar on a Saturday night in Ballard (trendy neighborhood) while a bunch of University of Washington students celebrated graduation. I couldn't get much more out of my element. Thank goodness the Redditors were very nice, not horribly drunk and great CAH players.
