Rough night

There is a festival happening all weekend 4 blocks away from my home in a big park.....beer garden....midway (rides)...food....and bands from noon till 10pm.

I have 4 house guests from out of town for the festivities...and including my wife...they are all drinking.

Last night was a major battle inside my head between the Bottle Devil and my sober self.....the av was telling me to go for it...have some fun....my sober consciousness was refuting every argument....NO....you're getting healthy....repair your liver....PLAY IT FORWARD!!

Guests all headed for the beer garden....I wandered round....wild salmon burger...ice cream...listened to the bands...then came home leaving guests down at the beer garden to do their thing.

My sober self won....I woke up bright and chipper at dawn, and I sure have no regrets about not drinking last night.

Day 14...Forward!

Way to go Hooped. It IS tough early on. Last night I had three old drinking buddies sitting on my deck drinking beer and it didn't bother me a bit.
Stay strong and just keep adding to your sober days.
Well done.

I continue to protect and strengthen my
recovery program today even if I'm a
many one days sober down the road,
going that extra mile and doing whatever
I need to do to build a strong foundation
in recovery and life to live upon for many
more days sober.

I wake up, suit up, show up, committed,
responsible, wearing a suit of recovery
armour to ward off those unwanted demons
that can aggravate the heck out of me,
catch me off guard to bring me down,
lurking around different corners just waiting
to strike and pull me down with it.

Using recovery tools and knowledge taught
to me 23 yrs ago, I incorporate them in my
everyday affairs, building my foundation one
step at a time, keep up with maintenance
where needed, so that I can enjoy living
on it happy, healthy, honest with Faith, Hope
and Love/Care.

So can you.

Congrats on your time and I strongly suggest not letting too many nights occur with drinking overnight guests....that could be a potential set up.

Take care of you
