Hi,

I'm new here and I am going to quit drinking today. I always tell myself that I'm going to stop, but this time I want to stop for real. I've been a heavy daily drinker for over 20 years, and I need support from anyone willing to offer help. I really need to go to meetings, but my work schedule is 6 pm to 7 am, and there are no meetings in my area until 9 am. I have to sleep sometime, but I always buy beer on the way home. I am ashamed of myself and tired of the madness.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Hokey. I drink everyday when I get home from work. Usually as many as I can put down until around 10 or 11 am.

Welcome. I've been here for less than a week, but it's already been an impactful experience. SR helped me beat down some urges earlier today.

Thanks Nuudawn and Gonnachange. I plan on logging in at 7:30 am tomorrow as soon as I get home from work. I will be able to attend AA meetings a few days this week when they start earlier in the evening.

Since you won't be drinking, and the early meetings are at 9am, I'd go to one every single day instead of drinking. Heck you'll have time left over!
