Drank on Friday. My boys were away. Still feeling absolutely ridiculous. Drank sat morning too and was working sat night. Luckily I was squared up enough to deal with work again the guilt is crippling I feel like a failure. An idiot. Weak. So it's day 2 . Last week was busy. Thought I could just have a couple. Turns out I'm an ******* ..
Sorry for letting myself down and you guys. Fortunately my sons were not in the equation this time.

Put down the stick. You don't need to beat yourself up anymore. It does no good. You can't change the past. Forgive yourself. Write down exactly how you are feeling right now on a piece of paper. The next time you want to drink, read it & see if it still looks appealing. We are not bad people...we are sick people. Out of 100 things...there are 99 things we CAN do and 1 we can't....DRINK.

I've been right where you are! Alcohol produces depression & anxiety the next few days as well as hangovers. Try to get some rest, be kind to yourself, eat healthy, drink lots of water & go for a walk if you can.

This too shall pass....hang in there!!!

Try to remember that shame is part of the disease of alcoholism. Your disease wants you to feel shame so you become weak and vulnerable once again. Instead of shame, just learn and move on - no need to make the same mistake again.

I'm glad you're back.

It happened and it's over with. You're already on day 2 so build on that.

I wish you well.

Hi hez, you've done well to come straight back, takes courage. As Jen says, don't beat yourself up but you can learn from it, for when you're sons aren't about, have you seen the weekend thread, come on and commit to 24 hours sober.

This morning I had to come to SR and write that I had a few drinks last night. Was not fun to have to do that and I'll be thinking about that feeling the next time I have an urge. I've already gotten through two today and I'm sure there are more in the queue. We can do this!
