Day 11

Day 11 and checking in.

There have been good days and tough days but all have been sober days.

Just checking in to stay connected and accountable. I don't want to get too cocky.

I've mentioned before, but 3 things really help me get through tough spots.

1. HALT (Am I hungry, angry, lonely, or tired?) For angry, I include irritable. I try to do something to fix each of those items before I even consider anything else.

2. Play it forward. How will it go?

3. REMEMBER the "happy" times that I think won't be the same without alcohol and how they were in reality ruined by alcohol.
a. The casino trip where I had to go to the car and sleep it off, husband ticked off, brother complaining, embarrassing!
b. The vacation where we did hardly anything but sit around and drink, and the kids were bored and annoyed, and it stunk and I thought I needed to consider whether or not I was drinking too much.
c. The countless number of parties where I acted stupid and embarrassed myself and others.
d. If I think about it, almost any situation where I find myself thinking "it won't be the same without a drink," if I think hard enough I realize how many times it was ruined by drinking. Yes, it won't be the same--it will be better without it.

Thanks for all your continued support. Have been reading through the Big Book. Attended a couple online AA meetings. Considering going to a live meeting to keep myself stabilized.

Well done ST, and great list.

Glad to hear you're still doing well. I'm still holding strong on day 13.
