I want to come back, but don't feel I can make any promises
I'm going to have to take it hour by hour, day by day at the moment. I know from past experience I almost get too hyper with my excitement of a short period of sobriety that I drink (madness).
I'm hoping to rejoin my SMART class on a Thursday. The times I went, I loved it, but that too I gave up.
Please no welcome backs, lost count of those over 2 years.
Doggonecarl, should you read this - it was your honesty that dragged me out of lurking. Sending you all the best.
Ok... and post.

Again!
I know I sound doubtful from the start but I'm just going on past behaviours. Day by day at the moment. SMART taught me I have the catastrophe complex... but what if? I'll definitely drink then... Needless to say my what ifs are not happening any time soon.

MTN,
you're in the place where most of us have a few stories to tell about promises, so ...uh...no-one here needs one, right?
whatever timeframe works, works. sometimes it helps to know that this moment here is doable and not think of the next.

Remember that old adage?
If at first we don't succeed...
(as it is my case) try, try, try, try, try, try, try ad nauseum ...again.
You don't drown by falling in the water, you drown by staying there.
Glad you're posting.

I would be really interested to hear more about the catastrophe complex.
As for promises. I am reminded of Simon and Garfunkel...
"I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles, Such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest."
