Hello all,
I have made the decision today to seek help and acknowledge that I have a serious problem with substance abuse. I stopped taking opioids in October 2013 and was on supervised suboxone program with outpatient counseling for approximately 4 months. The program was successful until insurance wouldn't cover the sub's and I had to taper myself. That. was. awful and a great reminder why I sought help in the first place. But alas, my true love is and was booze. Which brings me here today. I spent all day making phone calls, searching for a program for me and talking with insurance. They sure don't make this an easy process, but I suppose if it was easy, it wouldn't be so damn hard. I tear as I write this post out of shame, embarrassment and I'm just plain sick. I don't really remember much of this whole past week and I am tired of missing out on my life. I appreciate any words of encouragement, suggestions, thoughts, etc. Thank you for welcoming me.

Welcome sunnybaz. It's great to meet you.

No need to feel ashamed or embarrassed - everyone here understands how you're feeling. We've all been where you've been - and we are here to support you. Not being alone anymore was a huge help for me - I had no one in my life to talk to about my struggle with alcohol. Keep posting - we are here to help.
