dead from alcohol overdose

Car came home with almost flat tire.
sitting in waiting room at shop.
5 o'clock news just came on.
. Person dies from alcohol overdose is lead in story.

Not a typical opening story for Philly news.

People do die from drinking too much.

Yes they do. Or they die in accidents, fights, alcohol related illness. They break the hearts of those who love them. Every day. Thanks for your post. We should never forget this.

I had a friend die in his late 30's from alcohol, but it wasn't published as an alcohol overdose. That would be too embarrassing for the family. I know he drank the day he died. There are so many deaths caused by alcohol we never hear about, it's dangerous.

People die here from drunken driving related incidents on almost a daily basis. Every weekend there are at least a couple of "alcohol and speed were considered factors" accidents on our local news. And the added bonus of drunk driving is that you not only have the opportunity to kill yourself, but any of your passengers, bystanders or other drivers passengers whom you smash into.

From my rehab group of 10, after two years, seven were dead. Two in house fires, one in a bar fight, I don't remember the other causes. These seven never did any follow up program.

Two of the remaining three went to AA, and are still sober 35 years later. I drank again then went to AA about a year after the rehab. I've been sober ever since.

The really interesting thing as that the rehab success with that group was 30 %, very high by today's standards. Of those of us that went to AA, all recovered. We must have been well motivated.

Very depressing news to say the least.
That very well could have been me.

By this being reported, maybe it will
open some eyes.

Even though I do not know the current
NTSA stats on alcohol related traffic
deaths, the last time that I checked,
they were astronomical.

Accidents, overdose, violence and disease.
Alcohol takes it's deadly toll.

I wish they would put this on billboards every few miles, across the world.

Where I live, there are major university campuses.
It seams that every week-end there are at least two
alcohol related deaths. Not implying that it's just
the kids, but they make up the major share.

I live near the Philly area, and I haven't heard about this. Could you give me some from more information, please? Google keeps coming up short.

They cracked down on the hazing at the universities here due to this.
Sigh

My husband's father died as a direct result of a drunken fall.

I've always wanted to shake my fist at the sky and ask whose brilliant idea it was to give me the urge to self-destruct.

These sorts of stories always help keep me on the right path.
