You can try melatonin. It is an over the counter sleep aid and it works. But it gave me intense nightmares. I hear that is not uncommon. Some people take it and are just fine.
Chamomile tea is a great help. If you go to meetings, avoid the coffee.

I second the crazy nightmares on Melatonin.
I also second the SleepyTime tea, and limit caffeine to one cup before noon.
Early recovery is tough for getting sleep. For the first few weeks, I would often wake in the middle of the night. I finally just started to get up and come on here to read for a while. If I had a cup of hot chocolate I was able to go back to sleep.
I also find that 30 minutes of moderate exercise helps me sleep.
It gets better. Your body is healing.

Welcome! We have an insomnia forum. There's some tips there on getting good sleep. I know the early days of recovery are hard as far as sleeping. Your brain is full of anxiety and it's hard to rest. Moderate exercise helps me.
insomnia is a problem for most of us. I just let mine play out naturally. Took a week or so, maybe 10 days for a new sleeping pattern to emerge.
It's best to see a Dr or pharmacist before taking any sleep aids. Whats worked for someone else may not work, or even be suitable, for you.
