I'm really sorry for what happening to your Dad D, but I'm glad you're staying sober.
Your Dad probably needs you more than ever now.

D

I'm sorry August.. I hope your father will be ok. I lost my mother 4 years ago, suddenly and completely unexpected. She passed in her sleep 3 days before christmas. Staying sober is going to give you strength in this difficult time. Don't give in.

I'm so sorry for this sad news, from what I understand prostate cancer has a very high rate of cure success (a friend's dad had it a few years ago) so there is lots of hope for him

Sorry about the health issues your dad is dealing with, August. But I agree- you're a lot more useful to him and yourself sober.

Thanx all. Staying sober seems pointless to me. I feel every time I fight something comes along to knock me down.

August I understand where you are coming from. My husband has prostate cancer, we are waiting on a second biopsy next week, he's only 61 so he plans to live a lot longer. Yesterday he had severe chest pain and was taken by ambulance to hospital, of course I feared the worst and at this stage we don't quite know if it was a heart attack or not.

I have never been more grateful for my sobriety than yesterday. What my husband needed was a clear headed, thinking and loving wife, that's what he got. Had this happened 15 months ago I would have been hung over and hysterical.

We can look at this situation as a way to feel stress or we can look at this situation as a chance to do what we need to do for the guys we each love. Let's do it together August.

Just stay sober today. Try it again tomorrow. You will be much more equipped believe or not to deal with this with a sober mind.

Sorry for your Dad's health problems. I'm going through some tough times too. I actually thought to myself yesterday, do I want some wine? Hubby was away, I was alone and I felt like stone. I ate a big dish of ice cream and remained sober. I've got some serious problems right now and drinking won't help me handle them.
