my ABF has started work in a pub
Its a joke really isnt it?
His drinking has got alot worse lately but he thinks it hasnt.
My question is .... What would he fill his life with if he stopped drinking?
He drinks 12 pints plus if he is on it all day and he is beginning to show signs that its affecting his brain.
He says if he stopped he could still go in the pub no problem...lol!
Thats why i think he cant/wont stop

Ugh. So sorry. It's sad when it's so obvious what the drink is doing to them but they still can't see. I saw someone on here with the the signature line " Alcoholism is the only disease you have that tells you you're not sick."
My ex tried to get a job at a bar- it's actually one of the few places he's allowed to drink now. He tends to get really nasty and combative when a bartender cuts him off. It's the type of place that has underage prostitutes hanging around outside and drug deals, stabbing and shootings inside.
But because they'd seen him drink in there they knew he wasn't employee material for their classy establishment.

Hi spookyboo, I used to say I could stop if I wanted to but that I didn't want to.
With the best will in the world no one could stop me drinking except me. It wasn't easy to start with but gets easier.
Life is different when you don't drink, for starters if all your friends go drinking it's not wise to go with them or you will end up drinking too. I was a stay at home drinker so I had to change my routine so I didn't fall in the trap of drinking.

I think an alcoholic who takes a job in a pub is telling you by his actions that he's not even in the same zip code as ready to start talking about maybe thinking about getting sober.
Listen to his actions.
Listen to his actions.

There is always somewhere some hope, but I guess it depends on what you're hoping for.
Any expectations should be thrown out the window. Work your own recovery. Find where your life is taking you. As I've changed, everything else has too. The biggest thing is that I can trust my instincts again and be happy, whether he's drinking or not.
