Hi everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster and all of that. I made a decision today to quit drinking alcohol. I've done literally hundreds of stupid things in my life when drinking, and I have decided to quit drinking before I end up losing my family, my career, my freedom, my mental and physical health, and ultimately my life.
I look forward to continuing to read your posts. Have a great day everyone.

Hi NoAlcohol, I'm right there with you... I've done more stupid things while drunk then I care to remember. And who knows how many more stupid things that I genuinely CANNOT remember... We got this! Congrats on your decision.
Thanks everyone. Yes, we got this. I quit drinking for 3 months about a year ago, and I've gotta say it was the best 3 months of my life. I got a bit cocky and started back with it again, and it's right back to where it was again. So, I'm done, for good. I don't have fun when I drink anymore. I drink alone, watching sports games or old Trailer Park Boys re-runs, just wasting my life. When I had my 3 month abstinence period, I was motivated and productive every day because my life wasn't totally dominated by alcohol. Anyway, I'm back there now. I look forward to my new life.
Welcome, NoAlcohol. I am glad you are here with us. Trailer Park Boys is a guilty pleasure of mine. Probably not the best series to watch when in early recovery, but it worked for me. It is nice to watch what stupid things that drunks do instead of being the drunk that is DOING the stupid things.
Anyway, welcome. This place has been one of the most important tools for me in maintaining my sobriety. Good luck.
