Missed appointment

Missed it

Fear took over. I called though, they said to go in 9am tomorrow.

Just want to stay in your bed all day.

I want to go, I don't know why I didn't now. I was tired.

I could go in later today they said but we only have one car and hubby has it. Not sure I could get there.

The woman I spoke to was lovely. She said to go in at 9am tomorrow and I'd have an initial consultation. If they feel meds are required they will prescribe them tomorrow.

The process then goes that, after detox, the have therapy to deal with WHY I've been drinking so much. The care then extends until I feel (and they are happy) that I'm in recovery and in a place where relapse is unlikely. If I relapsed at any time their support is ongoing. Wish I'd gone in now.

I ended up just turning up.

I'm not sure how I feel. I need to discuss my options with hubby if I want to detox (she said as I've gone four days it's not immediate, although I'm terrified now about having a fit tomorrow as she mentioned day five - seriously almost enough to have a drink tonight, although I've resisted buying one so far despite the opportunity.). She doesn't think I'm dependent on alcohol.

Options for detox if I choose to go back are 5days at home where a community nurse gives medication. I would need someone to be with me at home. Other option is 5days in hospital. I need to talk through hubby whether to go down this route or try sticking at home with diazepam. Confused.

Try not to panic and talk with your husband.

Don't drink - don't let the fear overwhelm you...if they had any thought you were in danger tonight they would have told you specifically.

these are good steps you're taking

I've spoken briefly to hubby and we agree that they would have done something there and then if they thought I needed it. They basically said they feel the problem is a psychological dependence. I can see that.

Going to call back in a day or so, they do group sessions and one to one. It was suggested I try the group this Thursday.

Good job. It's common to feel fear and anxiety in the beginning.

Just keep doing the next right thing.

Things really are good your on day 5 , you have a medical back up and a husband who you can talk to about it, You'll soon have the first week, and it's clear to all you are committed to find the right path to get you free.
All the ups and downs of this bit will ever so soon level out and then life will have a new shine to it.
John.
