Hi everyone, I have been a long time lurker of the forums, decided to join today, I took my last drink last night, but this is not the first time I’ve tried to quit, sometimes days, months and once sober for over 2 years. I have drank my entire life, mostly beer but a lot of it.

Three weeks for me, I too was a heavy beer drinker.

Thanks everyone, so far no big problems, I had planned on quitting today since Wednesday, it is funny how that 'voice' in my head makes deals with me, "just a few more days and then quit", "let go out in style", yea 20 beers last night and now regretful. Well today is the day, the 'voice' will get grumpy, but I have to do this.

It's good to be around others with similar experiences.

Welcome to the forum! You can do this. Many here have used SR to get and stay sober. Do you have any program or plan in mind? There are tons of book recommendations here as well. Glad you're here.

I have bought a few books to read and I have been watching horrid videos on YouTube about addiction, it's hard to watch how we drink from a different perspective.

Really no big plans but not to drink, I may need to look at more options depending on how hard it gets.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome, I sure am glad a place like this exists.

Day 1 is about over, I am going to try to sleep now, I know it is tough to sleep in the beginning, if I have lots of trouble I'll be back tonight reading.

Feels good to be sober, I know all about the pink cloud, but I'll ride it as long as I can!
