Cleaning trigger!!!!!

Spring cleaning..... Nearing the end of the day and my mind starts going off in how I can run to the store and grab some cold wine. It's scaring me. Need some support. Thanks

Think about how you'll feel tomorrow if you drink that wine. The headache, the overwhelming guilt. I guarantee you will not regret waking up without a hangover.

Be strong. You can do this. Every time you resist you get stronger. Hugs to you. xo

Reward your self with some ice cream or something else. If you need a drink how about some tea or sparkling water?

You mean like me last weekend? Spending the day doing yard work and not drinking a full case of beer for the first time ever?
I had to take breaks to reset my mind often. I read and posted on SR when I was at my wits end thinking about a cold one. I got over it.
You can too.

Cleaning and yard work trigger me too. Just remember your negative consequences. Always play through to what is likely to happen. Your "reward" is not truly rewarding.

Stay strong, ontherightpath; things will seem so much brighter in the morning if you don't drink.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm exhausted and hungry. Think I'll take the kids to dinner. Then hit a meeting. I hate this battle. But I realize if I don't talk about it, no one will know how I am feeling.

A very productive day is a strong trigger for me as well. I want a reward. I go for the suggestion of an alternative reward, something else you enjoy, as suggested above. Ice cream, take out dinner or dinner out, to give you a break from cooking after a lot of work. Or, maybe a movie? Fizzy drink like seltzer with some juice or lemon/lime?

Doing normal things sober when used to do them drunk is definitly a challenge. Try to take more breaks, have something refreshing. Take time to look around the yard.
