Should I be concerned?
I am only on day 9. And I do feel much better really. Overall improved feeling and my outlook is "brighter" but I am still tense and slightly hostile. Dealing with cravings o.k. Staying busy and focused helps.
However I still have a lingering hungover feeling. A little foggy/groggy. Reflexes just don't seem so great and I am dead TIRED by 9 each evening.....I sleep o.k. But I just don't feel "right" yet. Like a slight low grade fever and general just ickyness.
Is this normal or should I be concerned of a bigger problem???

Congrats on 9 days!
As always,if you think something might be off, check with a doctor.
I don't know how long you've been drinking in your life. But think about it.
It's going to take your body a while to correct itself after being poisoned for a while.

Yes, I guess thats true. I have been drinking solid, daily for about 5 years and socially for about 26 prior to that.....so it may take more than a week to get back to normal....or even establish what "normal" should be at this point.

It does take time, you are going through
a war which must be determined to win.
I have been sober since 5/28 and I still
feel anxious and crappy at times.
We lost who we thought was a good
friend, who we now know was a monster
in disguise. Like I have said in many of
my posts, I'm far from 100%, but feel
100% better than when I was boozing.

Hi Keys, I am at 23 days (I think) and I am still feeling that way on and off. If I was really concerned about it I would go see my doctor. I've been trying to eat the best I can and drink a ton of water everyday.
I hope it gets better for you soon. Congrats on 9 days!

Thanks all for the info and the encouraging words. I sort of just figured it was "par for the course" but wanted to see what others had experienced as this is all certainly virgin territory for me. All of my family where social drinkers and a few die hard alcoholics in the bunch....so I have been drinking regularly since my teens. It was never really an issue nor was it DAILY till just five years ago (divorce, then major economic meltdown 2 career changes 2 relocation's loss of 2 grandparents and my Father----damn it has been a busy 5 years) just all compiled and took its toll. But good things are happening getting a little stronger every day.
The help and community here is certainly a huge asset in taking and continuing to take those steps.

Yes, water.
I had two docs tell me at detox
to drink water and then some more.
I drink flavored water.
They also told me that even though
I was "detoxified", it takes time to
totally rid the body of toxins and
their affects.
I'm a very impatient person and I
want the results NOW. Well I punished
my body with alcohol for many years
and I realize it is going to take time
to heal.

Well I am at day...I guess 15 now sort of. Went out of town on a 3 day motorcycle trip with some forum friends from a motorcycle owners forum about 700 miles round trip Awesome roads and perfect weather. They did drink and I DID have 1 beer on the main party night. And 1 the first night to camp, But I was AMAZED....1 was all that was available, one was all I had. I didn't hop on my bike and ride 30 minutes in the dark on unfamiliar roads to get a 12 pack and back to guzzle it!!! (I would have before) well.......no thats not true, a year ago I could have gone to this event. I chose to use excuses and not go and stay home---and drink--and truth be told had I not stopped drinking over a week out, I COULDN'T have done this ride 5 hours on the bike 1 way heavy interstate followed by mountainous twisty very technical roads for about 90 miles. Wouldn't have had the energy or concentration.
So a small set back, but all in all in my mind a MAJOR win. And my first vacation in 5 years. SWEEEEET!
A few of our bikes (mines in the middle) atop a 2400 ft. mountain A new kinda high! :-)
