And, you should be concerned.

Each detox is different and seizures are unpredictable.

Please talk to your dr if you're concerned at all.

I was never concerned - which was ironic cos I ended up, not with seizures, but mini strokes.

None of us know how our next withdrawal might go - which is why I always recommend peeps see their Dr

I had seizures detoxing from benzos. Always a first stop when detoxing is a doctor.

I had my first seizure the night that
I went into detox. Besides going through
severe DT's, that done it for me.

That memory is going to help me
maintain my sobriety.

If you're under a Drs care, try not to worry - do go back to them if you're concerned tho

The fear of having a seizure during withdrawal is one of the things that held back for probably almost a year. I expressed this to my doctor so he gave me valium (awful drug) to help avoid a seizure. He said it was very unlikely even with out valium that I would have one as I'm young and had no history of seizures. The drug was mostly for piece of mind, I think and to help control shaking while at work. He gave me 30 pills. I only ended up taking 8 over 5 days and gave the rest back to the pharmacy. Maybe this is an option you could explore with your doctor?

I have stopped drinking a few times. I have never had seizures as I drink chronically rather than in huge volumes. What I have found though is that in the two or three times I have tried to stop over the last couple of years (I am determined this is the last time!) my levels of anxiety and shredded nerves have increased considerably. My last drink was last Sunday and I am in the thick of it now. No fun!
