Yesterday was the first time in 9 years

Yesterday was the first time in 9 years.

Ok to be honest done it twice (2 days in nine years) where i have not had a drink.

yesterday was the first decisive time i decided no drink, i stuck to it , this morning i woke up (after no sleep-woke every hour+, sweaty disoriantated), yet here i am after a 1 (ok 2 bottles and a half of wine). it was there i could drink it, no probs not driving.

going cold turkey is not the way, should i set goals? and reward myself if i meet them (gotta be cheaper).

should i get rid of all alchol in house (and make wife hate me-she does not know i have a problem, suspects maybe...i know i do).

Advice

Hi and welcome G7PKF1

I'm not sure what the situation is here - you didn't drink yesterday but you drank today... or what?

Stopping cold turkey is the way to go ONLY if your dr says it's okay to do.

It would be helpful to get rid of the alcohol in your house, but many of us have partners who drink safely.

Welcome to SR. I strongly urge you to see your doctor about quitting. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. It will be uncomfortable. Your doctor can help.

Coming here for support helps. For me, Having a plan on how to quit was vital. Welcome and hang in there.

Why would your wife hate you? Does she drink?

If you are thinking you have a problem, its probably true. Do whatever you need to do, but soon enough. It doesn't get better.
