Starting day one.
Alphabet, imagine that just about everyone here has felt exactly the same way as you right now. Don't let it keep you from moving forward. It gets better. You will improve. You have to tough it out early on. It IS a struggle. Look how many here got through it.
Keep up your strength. We're pulling for you.

These feelings of hopelessness will start to fade as you count down sober days. If you can, you might want to start taking the B vitamins now. Ask your doctor about taking some calcium, magnesium and D3 at bedtime with some B 6. My doctor has me taking them and it seems I sleep better. I like the sublingual B 12 drops to start the day.
Don't give up on yourself. It takes a while to rebuild your health. Try and eat small meals more often during the day. I like toast with honey in the mornings. And poached eggs.
Stick around SR, read up. See how we've recovered our lives and know you can too.
I think it's important to have a recovery plan. AA is good and it's free. I like RR and AVRT. You can read about it in the Secular threads. RR and AVRT helped me best understand addiction.
Good to see you posting!

Every journey begins with a single
step. You have to be aware of the
terrain ahead to complete that
journey.
I know that may not make sense
right now because of the way you feel,
but the longer you stay sober, the
better you will feel. Trust us.

I remember feeling hopeless too but I leant on the people here who told me I could do it...and I did

Alphabet we're all there with you. We understand what it's like & we share your struggle. The miserable feeling will go away as you get some sober time behind you. You're going to do this.
Thank you all so much.
I made it through the day fairly easily considering the state I was in this morning, and without a single drop was had
Looking forward to an even better tomorrow. I'm happiest, though, that I could relieve my fiancé of some of the stress of worrying about me. He's a true teammate.
Hugs!

Hi Alphabet. Keep it up. I'm back on day one too and I know it isn't easy but it will get better. I look at it as though I'm fighting this giant beast (alcohol) and I need to up my armer this time around and have better weapons...AA sober friends, family, seeing a therapist this week.. I may have lost my Job, and partner but I still have me and many people who love me. I'm going to throw everything I have at it because I want to live.
