Day 8 and did a Saturday night without getting drunk
Hi all, feeling great because I actually did a Saturday night without getting drunk, the first one in a very very long time. Also had to attend a 50th birthday party for a very good friend, lots of booze there, but it didn't take me long to realise that everyone there really could not care less whether I was drinking or not. I actually realised for once in my life that there are people at parties who do not drink. I had never really noticed non drinkers before as I was always in amongst the biggest drinkers getting massively drunk and not noticing much at all , except whether my glass was empty or not. The couple of people who commented on me not drinking got the reply from me of, " No, not drinking tonight, got a busy day tomorrow." They said, " Fair enough"....then went back to their drinks and didn't give it another mention. I was always under the impression that it would be such a really big deal to everyone else if I didn't drink, but I now see that my thoughts on that were just another untruth I told to myself so that I could continue drinking. Don't get me wrong, it was not easy, I would have loved a drink, but I am proud of myself for actually attending and not drinking. I just posted this to point out that what you perceive of others is not necessarily true.
PS. Woke up without a hangover and spent today at the beach feeling healthy....another bonus.
